London, 1st July 2024 - Tourism Malaysia is thrilled to announce its return to the Global Bird Fair, the world's largest wildlife event, taking place from 11th to 14th July 2024 at Lyndon Top, Rutland in the UK. This prestigious event brings together wildlife enthusiasts, conservationists, and tourism professionals from around the globe to celebrate and promote wildlife preservation and eco-tourism.
Tourism Malaysia will showcase the country's rich biodiversity, highlighting its status as a premier destination for bird watchers and nature lovers. Renowned author and wildlife expert Quentin Phillipps will join Tourism Malaysia at the show, as well as expert tour operators offering advice and guidance on itineraries. Attendees can also participate in a giveaway for a chance to win a £100 voucher.
Visitors to the show will have the opportunity to learn about Malaysia’s diverse ecosystems, conservation efforts, and top bird-watching watching locations such as Taman Negara, Fraser's Hill, and the Kinabatangan River. Malaysia is home to an incredible array of bird species, including the rare and iconic Rhinoceros Hornbill, making it a must-visit destination for avian enthusiasts.
A native of Borneo, Quentin Phillipps has been captivated by its wildlife and natural history from a young age. Born in Sandakan, Sabah, his lifelong dedication to studying and documenting the region's rich biodiversity has made him a leading authority on Bornean wildlife. His acclaimed work, "Phillipps’ Field Guide to the Birds of Borneo," is a comprehensive and meticulously updated guide that covers the avian species of Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei, and Kalimantan. This field guide is an indispensable resource for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts, providing detailed information and stunning illustrations that enhance the birdwatching experience.
Phillipps will be giving a talk on the stand, offering valuable insights into the unique birdlife of Borneo, sharing his extensive knowledge and passion for conservation. His personal stories and professional experiences will undoubtedly inspire attendees and deepen their appreciation for the region’s incredible biodiversity.
Tourism Malaysia’s participation at the Global Bird Fair UK underscores its dedication to promoting sustainable tourism and preserving the country’s natural heritage. Also exhibiting at the Global Bird Fair will be the Sabah Tourism Board, showcasing the extraordinary biodiversity and unique wildlife experiences of the Sabah state, located on the Northern portion of Borneo. Sabah is renowned for its lush rainforests, towering mountains, and pristine beaches. Visitors can learn about Sabah's top bird-watching locations, such as the Kinabatangan River, Danum Valley, and Mount Kinabalu, home to a multitude of endemic and migratory bird species.
