Major Investment Strengthens Role as Hotel Owner and Operator
September 2025, London: Event Hotels, a leading European hotel operator and investor, today announced the acquisition of the Keystone Portfolio. The package comprises 17 hotels under the ibis and Mercure brands across Germany, totalling 2,021 guest rooms in locations stretching from Bremen to Munich. Legal advisory for the transaction was provided by McDermott Will & Schulte (Düsseldorf).
“This acquisition marks one of the largest investments in our 30-year company history and represents another milestone in our evolution as a hotel investor,” said Anders Braks, Owner and CEO of Event Hotels. “These hotels have proven their quality and - especially during the COVID-19 pandemic - the resilience of both their products and locations. With this acquisition, we are committed to further developing the properties with a long-term perspective, focusing on guest experience enhancements and technical infrastructure upgrades.”
The portfolio of hotels are in economically stable and high-demand markets. Cities such as Bremen, Frankfurt, Cologne, Nuremberg, and Munich are key destinations for business travellers, trade fair visitors, and conference attendees, ensuring strong occupancy rates and robust performance. Koblenz, located on the Rhine, is a popular tourist destination with significant leisure demand and is home to the largest hotel in the portfolio, the 168-room Mercure Koblenz City. Additional locations including Bamberg, Paderborn, Würzburg, Duisburg, and Sindelfingen offer stable economic fundamentals, strong infrastructure, and growth potential in the midscale and budget segments. This strategic portfolio composition provides attractive risk diversification, steady cash flows, and long-term value creation.
Through this acquisition, Event Hotels plans targeted refurbishments, technical upgrades, and guest experience improvements - measures designed to ensure both enhanced customer satisfaction and sustainable business performance.
